Juergen Eckhardt, MD, MBA
Dr. Juergen Eckhardt served as Metagenomi’s chairperson of the board from September 2020 to February 2024. In addition to being Head of Bayer’s Business Development & Licensing, he is Head of Bayer’s strategic investment unit, Leaps by Bayer.

Dr. Eckhardt has been a venture investor since 2002 and has served on more than 25 company boards. Prior to Bayer, Dr. Eckhardt was a management consultant and Associate Partner at McKinsey, where he was a member of McKinsey’s Healthcare Leadership Team. He began his career as a radiologist at the University Hospital of Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Eckhardt received his MD from the University of Basel and his MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
