Brian C. Thomas, PhD

He start­ed Metageno­mi after see­ing the need for dis­rup­tion in the gene edit­ing space. Brian’s pas­sion is to unlock the full poten­tial of metage­nomics to solve crit­i­cal prob­lems fac­ing mankind. By min­ing genomes recov­ered from unknown life forms found in nat­ur­al envi­ron­ments, he real­ized the poten­tial of devel­oping new gene edit­ing tech­nolo­gies that could be use­ful for treat­ing genet­ic disease. 

He holds both a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Cel­lu­lar and Mol­e­c­u­lar Biol­o­gy and a Ph.D. in Bio­chem­istry from The Uni­ver­si­ty of Kansas and his post­doc­tor­al research was com­plet­ed at UC Berkeley.
